Frequently asked questions

The game

What is Padooko?

Padooko is a multiplayer horse-racing game where you build your own yard, raise your horses and ride them yourself in live races. Training, care, breeding, the market and a season-long championship all come together. To get started, read How to play Padooko.

Is Padooko free?

Yes, it's free to play. Players who want to can buy Doko packs or a Padooko Plus membership, but all of the core game can be played for free. A free yard can take its horses all the way to the top; paying shortens some waits and adds some conveniences.

Is there betting in Padooko?

No. Padooko isn't a betting game and has no betting of any kind. You enter races only with your own horse, and you earn game money only by how your own horse finishes. Doko, the game's money, can't be cashed out.

What can I play on?

Padooko plays in a web browser today, on a computer or a phone. iOS and Android apps are coming soon. They all connect to the same world and the same account: the yard you leave on the web is the yard you'll find on your phone.

Will my progress ever be reset?

No. Seasons close and new ones begin, but your horses, your Doko, your trophies and your album stay with you.

How long does a race take?

Between one and three minutes, depending on the distance. Sprints are over in about a minute; long-distance races take a few minutes.

How much do I need to play each day?

Padooko is designed for short, regular visits. Training and rest waits count down in real time; dropping in for a few minutes a few times a day to do the jobs that are ready and run a race or two is plenty. Your yard recovers while you're away, but if you stay away for a whole day, your daily reward streak starts over.

How long is a game month?

The game has its own calendar: one game month is roughly one real week, and twelve game months make a season. Horses age on that calendar. See Season and rating.

Does the race caller say my horse's name?

Yes. A Turkish race caller calls the horses by their gate number and name. Names that can't be pronounced or are inappropriate are refused or called by number only, so give your horse a name that can be read aloud.

Your account

Can I play as a guest?

Yes, you can jump straight in as a guest. To make sure you never lose your progress, we recommend linking your account to an email address, or to your Apple or Google account, later on; then you can reach the same yard from another device.

How do I delete my account?

Use the "Delete account" option in your profile settings to delete your account permanently. For details, see the Privacy policy.

Horses and races

Who am I racing against?

The other horses in your field belong to rival yards. The game works out every horse's power and puts horses of similar power in the same race; your new foal won't be drawn against the season's champion. See Races.

Why can't my horse enter a race?

The horse's card tells you why. The most common reasons: it isn't of racing age yet (a foal born at your stud), it's injured, its condition is drained (exhausted), or it's still resting after its last race. See Yard care.

My horse is injured. What should I do?

An injured horse can neither race nor train until it heals; healing can take a few months on the game calendar, which is a few weeks in real time. To lower the risk in future, don't race or work a horse hard while it's tired.

What happens if I lose my connection during a race?

Your horse doesn't drop out; it keeps running while you're gone. When your connection comes back, you take the reins again. Still, riding it yourself always gets the better result.

What is a hidden talent?

Some of a horse's traits aren't visible at birth. These hidden talents come to light as the horse races, and sometimes a yard event reveals one early. Words like "Gate!" or "Kick!" that appear above a horse during a race are your way of getting to know its character. Finding out what they are is part of the game.

I have no horses and no Doko left. What now?

You won't be stuck. If your yard has no horses left and not enough Doko for a new foal, your groom brings you a new foal once a week.

Doko and purchases

How do I earn Doko?

Race prizes, the daily reward, daily and weekly quests, the weekly cup and horse sales all earn Doko. You can also buy Doko packs in the shop.

Can I see what's in a crate before I open it?

The tier odds for crates are shown openly in the game, on the ODDS sheet behind the small ⓘ on the crate card and on the naming sheet. See Horse tiers.

What does Padooko Plus give me?

Padooko Plus is a membership. Your horses recover faster, gain a little more from training and wait less between races; you also get a few extra stalls, reduced jockey fees, extra Doko every day, a bigger daily reward week and more foals to choose from at the counter. Five jockeys and the visiting Legend stallions are open to Plus yards only. Plus doesn't change your horse's power or its limits; fields are balanced the same way for horses with and without Plus.
